My poor, tiny little yard. It's very small, yet problematic. The house is situated near the bottom of a row of houses built on a slope with the water running sown to my yard and then ultimately my neighbor. My downspouts weren't … More buried when the house was built so when it rains, water just shot out, adding to the mess that was coming from the houses up the slope.
The HOA covers lawn care so I never messed with my yard. This year they removed pine straw from what they cover, so it seemed like I finally needed to do something about the water and get an alternative to the pine straw. I asked for a mix of mulch and sod installation as there is no grass on the sides of the house. To my surprise, Jerrod recommended I not do the grass. A contractor turning down money! But it made sense. Not enough sunlight, the expense, the possibility of the grass not doing well overall, probably having to change to a different grass type..
So I went with downspout burial and tons of mulch. It looks great! Now I want it to rain so I can see everything in action. And best of all, the neighbors are happy! The price was great, work was fast, they cleaned everything up, gave recommendations on other aspects of my yard, and agreed to a day-of change order to add a ring of mulch around a tree I had forgotten to mention before.
I next plan to add some bushes and shrubs (what's the difference?!) and what not in the fresh mulch. I would say I plan to do it myself, but who am I kidding. It's super hot this year and Barber already proved they can do a great job at a fair price, so I'll probably call this fall or next spring. Anyway, great experience. -

Jarrod of Barber got back to me same day, then came out within a couple days and was 100% reliable with the appointment we set for a look around and quote. I showed him my mess of a yard and on the spot he made recommendations I loved (listed above) and gave me a very reasonable quote shortly after. I committed and then it was time for them to do the job. Again we made an appointment and they showed up with no stress at all for me. Cody and Shade did an outstanding job!!! I am SO pleased. Welcome to Barber Landscaping and Lawn Care! We look forward to adding you to our routes and maintaining your lawn or booking a backyard makeover with you. I can assure you I will personally look over your project myself and make sure our employees conduct themselves professionally. We never sub-contract work you will get our employees every time. So you can trust their work ethic and quality of work. Every employee we hire goes through extensive background checks and is trained personally by me. I make sure to hire the best. We have extensive experience and knowledge with all types of patios, including pavers, stamped concrete, and erosion control.
You can rely on us to show up on time and make sure your gate is locked when we leave. If you ever have any problems at all please contact and let me try to fix them. Of course, we are licensed and insured, we carry $2 million liability insurance to make sure if we mess something up it will be fixed (We have never had to use it). Not only that, but we are members of several industry organizations that provide us with training and knowledge that goes above and beyond your average lawn guy.
We do our best to keep prices low this includes vertical integration of key materials that we use. For instance, we manufacture our own organic compost, harvest our own pine straw and source other materials direct from producers to keep prices down and quality high. You can always come by our shop at Cumming Pine Straw, and purchase directly from our yard to take advantage of special savings. If you are looking for new plants we have partnered with local nurseries such as BL Mullinax Nursery that provides a great selection of shrubs and trees.
