How Much Does it Cost to Install a Concrete Patio?

Price varies due to specific factors with grading, access to the site, and whether it has to be pumped to the backyard. The average backyard patio ranges from 200-500 square feet. Concrete Patios cost anywhere from $7-14 a square foot if they are in the backyard and cannot be access by the concrete delivery truck. Driveways are usually less expensive per square foot due to the easier access and larger area. *I am writing this is Fall of 2021 and inflation can change things quickly.

Is it cheaper to lay concrete or pavers?

Usually, it is cheaper to pour a simple concrete pad then to lay pavers down. Buying pavers themselves can be very expensive. There are more people involved with paver due to the backbreaking work demanded and in the long term they require periodic maintenance due to shifting, washouts, and settling. Concrete is usually a pour it and forget it option, no maintenance required.

Can I pour my own concrete patio?

Yes, you most certainly can! I will say it’s a lot of work but if you think you can take it on then go for it. Remember to be careful with your drying time. Sometimes, the concrete can get away from you and dry faster than you can finish and smooth everything out. This is one of the hardest parts of finishing concrete. The hotter the temperature out side the faster the concrete dries out. There are a few specialty tools you will need. A rake or tool to pull the concrete, a screed board to roughly level the concrete to grade. You will also need several hand tools that make finishing the concrete easier.

  • hand trowel
  • hand float
  • edging tool
  • bull float
  • wide shop broom

To be honest unless you already have all the necessary the tools it isn’t very economical to pour your own slab. When we give you a quote for any concrete work almost half the price is concrete itself. In Forsyth County concrete prices range from 135-175 per yard. Then if you don’t have over 3 yards you get charged a delivery fee of $150-300.

What can you do with a concrete patio?

I know what your thinking concrete is just to plain. Well, there are plenty of options with concrete. You can stain it almost any color you like. You can add a stamp that makes it look like rock or even wood planks. There are hundreds of colors we can stain it and 20-30 different stamping patterns. We can also make decorative cut lines  or even do exposed aggregate finished.
